Tooth Whitening

The easiest and most cost effective way to improve your smile is to bleach your teeth. The procedure involves taking impressions of your teeth. These are then used to construct moulds that look a bit like clear gum shields. The bleaching agent (carbamide peroxide) is placed in these moulds and these are worn for, usually 2 to 3 weeks. It is very important that the concentration of the bleaching agent is not higher than 10% or 12% carbamide peroxide. Higher concentrations are thought by many dentists to be too harsh on the teeth and may cause drying and sensitivity of the teeth. At lydendental we use 10% carbamide peroxide, this method of tooth whitening has a long history of safe and effective use.
